Slow Dance on a Burial Ground is a musique concrète tape work made from studio performances by the composer on log drums and folk flutes then processed and manipulated at IPEM/Belgian Radio’s montage studio, Ghent in 1983 and 1984. The log drums were designed and built by the Belgian composer, Godfried-Willem Raes. The folk flutes and ocarinas were from Poland, England, and North Africa, the wind chimes Belgian, the 19th century sleigh bells from the B.A. Rowley Farm, Fabius, NY and the low frequency drone was made on the 4-A computer at IRCAM, Paris. The first performance was 10 June 1984 at an EMAS (Electroacoustic Music Association of Great Britain) concert at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London, UK, with a solo dancer, Sue Nye. The work was first issued in 1984 as a LP of Montague’s works on the Lovely Music label No. VR2041 (New York).
